Hi. It’s been a while.
First off, an apology, the last post on Data Luthier was back in September 2024 after a bit of a false start. Since then, life has been… a lot. I won’t get into personal details but it’s been a busy six months, I want to say thank you if you’ve stuck around or found your way here recently. The time away wasn’t wasted — there has been lots going on.
Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s been happening behind the scenes:
💼I got promoted to Consultant @ Purple Frog Systems
🎓 I earned a Chartered Institute of Development (CID) credential in Leadership and Management.
🎯 I passed DP-700 to become a Microsoft Certified: Azure Enterprise Data Analyst.
📋I joined the team at SQL Bits, one of Europe’s biggest data events.
🎤 I’ll also be speaking at SQLBits this year, twice!
🎸I’ve learned to play a LOT of 70’s and 80’s “dad rock” songs.
These milestones pushed me to think bigger about what I want this blog to be — not just for me, but for anyone passionate about data.
So What’s Next for Data Luthier?
Think of this as a soft relaunch— not a total overhaul, but a refresh. Here’s what’s changing:
🎨 A Fresh New Look
The blog’s getting a facelift. Cleaner design, easier navigation, and a better reading experience. No fluff — just focused content for with an onus on interactivity and clarity.
🛠️ New Series: Demo It Yourself
I’m launching a new series for those who love hands-on learning. Each post in DIY: Demo It Yourself will include:
- A practical concept or real-world scenario
- Step-by-step walkthroughs
- Ready-to-use materials: sample data, scripts, diagrams, and challenges to interact with.
Whether you’re new to the world of data or just looking to sharpen your skills, this series will get you hands on with the concepts — rather than just talking about them.

I’ll be posting more regularly again. Expect practical deep dives, thoughtful perspectives, and maybe the occasional rant about buzzwords (looking at you “AI”)
